PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can suppress an increase in temperature of a liquid crystal display element due to the propagation of heat of a shading mask to the liquid crystal display element even when the shading mask is arranged in close proximity to the liquid crystal display element.

SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display element 11 includes a pixel area that optically modulates illumination light L1 entered each pixel. A heat sink 12 radiates heat of the liquid crystal display element 11. A first mask member 13 is fixed to the heat sink 12 and formed of a material lower in heat conductivity than the heat sink 12, and has a first opening 131 corresponding to the pixel area to mask unnecessary light. A second mask member 15 is arranged at a position more apart from the liquid crystal display element 11 than the first mask member 13, fixed to the heat sink 12, and formed of a material higher in heat conductivity than the first mask member 13, and has a second opening 151 having a size larger than the first opening 131 to mask unnecessary light.

【課題】遮光マスクを液晶表示素子に近接して配置しても、遮光マスクの熱が液晶表示素子に伝搬して液晶表示素子の温度が上昇することを抑制することができる表示デバイスを提供する。
【解決手段】液晶表示素子11は、画素ごとに入射された照明光L1を光変調する画素領域を有する。ヒートシンク12は、液晶表示素子11の熱を放熱する。第1のマスク部材13はヒートシンク12に固定され、ヒートシンク12よりも熱伝導率の低い材料によって形成され、画素領域に対応する第1の開口131を有して、不要光をマスクする。第2のマスク部材15は、第1のマスク部材13よりも液晶表示素子11から離れた位置に配置されてヒートシンク12に固定され、第1のマスク部材13よりも熱伝導率の高い材料によって形成され、第1の開口131の大きさ以上の大きさを有する第2の開口151を有して、不要光をマスクする。
