Abstract
(EN) A process for producing an isoolefin homopolymer comprises: sonicating a solution of an initiator system in an organic solvent, the initiator system comprising a Lewis acid catalyst and a proton source selected from the group consisting of water, an alcohol, a phenol, a thiol, a carboxylic acid or any mixture thereof, to produce a sonicated initiator solution, the sonicating performed at an energy input of 100 J/mL or greater, based on volume of the initiator solution; and then, contacting the sonicated initiator solution with a reaction mixture of an isoolefin monomer in an organic diluent to produce the isoolefin homopolymer.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire un homopolymère d'isooléfine qui consiste : à soniquer une solution d'un système d'initiateur dans un solvant organique, le système d'initiateur comprenant un catalyseur acide de Lewis et une source de protons sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué par l'eau, un alcool, un phénol, un thiol, un acide carboxylique ou n'importe quel mélange de ceux-ci, pour produire une solution d'initiateur soniquée, la sonication étant effectuée à une entrée d'énergie de 100 J/ml ou plus, sur la base du volume de la solution d'initiateur ; et, ensuite, à mettre en contact la solution d'initiateur soniquée avec un mélange réactionnel d'un monomère d'isooléfine dans un diluant organique pour produire l'homopolymère d'isooléfine.
