(EN) A seal assembly 12 comprises a hollow tube 2 containing one or more valves or seals 3, 5 that permit sliding passage of a cylindrical object along the tube. The valves or seals may be spaced apart to define a chamber in the tube that contains an ultraviolet light source 10, may comprise one or more O-ring, septum, and/or duckbill valve, and there may be a combination of more than one valve and/or seal at one or both ends of the chamber. The tube or chamber may comprise a fluid extraction port 13, e.g. for connection to a suction source 17, and/or a fluid supply port. In use, the assembly is intended to contain, and to sterilise and/or remove, infectious aerosols that may be generated during medical procedures, and may form an access port of an endoscope, trocar, ventilation mask, or sealed rectal examination garment.
