Abstract

A light source structure includes a vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) device having a top surface and at least one side surface substantially perpendicular to and adjoining the top surface. The VCSEL device is configurable to output directed emission of light through the top surface. The light source structure also includes a light barrier surrounding at least a top portion of the VCSEL device and separated from the at least one side surface. The light barrier is configured to receive spontaneous emission out of the VCSEL device through the at least one side surface.

La présente invention concerne une structure source de lumière qui comprend un dispositif laser à émission par la surface et à cavité verticale (VCSEL) possédant une surface supérieure et au moins une surface latérale sensiblement perpendiculaire à la surface supérieure et adjacente à celle-ci. Le dispositif VCSEL peut être conçu pour délivrer une émission de lumière dirigée à travers la surface supérieure. La structure source de lumière comprend également une barrière lumineuse entourant au moins une partie supérieure du dispositif VCSEL et séparée de ladite surface latérale. La barrière lumineuse est conçue pour recevoir une émission spontanée du dispositif VCSEL à travers ladite surface latérale.
