Abstract

[Problem] To provide an iron-based oxide magnetic powder which has a sufficiently reduced amount of fine particles and coarse particles, has a powder shape that is close to a perfect sphere, and is suitable for magnetic recording medium applications. [Solution] A source solution containing ferric ions or ferric ions and metal element ions which substitute a portion of the Fe site and an alkali aqueous solution for neutralizing the source solution are added to a reaction system so that the reaction system has a pH of 1.0 to 3.0; a hydroxy carboxylic acid is added to the obtained reaction solution and thereafter the pH of the reaction system is neutralized to 7.0 to 10.0; a deposit of the obtained substituted metal element-containing iron oxyhydroxide is coated with a silicon oxide and heated to form particles of ε-iron oxide in which a portion of the Fe site is substituted with another metal element; and the slurry containing the particles is classified.

Le problème décrit par la présente invention est de fournir une poudre magnétique d'oxyde à base de fer qui a une quantité suffisamment réduite de particules fines et de particules grossières, présente une forme de poudre qui est proche d'une sphère parfaite, et est appropriée pour des applications de support d'enregistrement magnétique. La solution selon l'invention porte sur une solution source contenant des ions ferriques ou des ions ferriques et des ions d'élément métallique qui remplacent une partie du site Fe et une solution aqueuse alcaline pour neutraliser la solution source qui sont ajoutées à un système de réaction de telle sorte que le système réactionnel présente un pH de 1,0 à 3,0; un acide hydroxycarboxylique est ajouté à la solution de réaction obtenue, puis le pH du système réactionnel est neutralisé à 7,0 à 10,0; un dépôt de l'oxyhydroxyde de fer contenant un élément métallique substitué obtenu est revêtu d'un oxyde de silicium et chauffé pour former des particules d'oxyde de fer ε dans lesquelles une partie du site Fe est substituée par un autre élément métallique; et la suspension contenant les particules est classée.

【課題】微細粒子および粗大粒子の含有量が十分に低減され、かつ粒子形状が真球に近く磁気記録媒体用途に適した鉄系酸化物磁性粉を提供する。 【解決手段】3価の鉄イオン、または、3価の鉄イオンおよびFeサイトの一部を置換する金属元素のイオンを含む原料溶液と、前記の原料溶液を中和するためのアルカリ水溶液を反応系に添加して反応系のpHを1.0以上3.0以下とし、得られた反応溶液にヒドロキシカルボン酸を添加したのち反応系のpHを7.0以上10.0以下まで中和し、得られた置換金属元素含有オキシ水酸化鉄の析出物にシリコン酸化物を被覆した後加熱し、Feサイトの一部が他の金属元素で置換されたε酸化鉄の粒子とした後、当該粒子を含むスラリーを分級する。
