Abstract

A respiratory filter and condensate management apparatus is provided for use in a breathing circuit during patient respiration. The apparatus includes a housing having an air inlet port for receiving a flow of respiratory air, and an air outlet port for outputting the flow of respiratory air to a ventilator. A filter compartment is provided within the housing and includes a filter member located in a flow path of the respiratory air from the air inlet port to the air outlet port. A condensate collection compartment is provided within the housing and includes at least one reservoir and at least one self-sealing drainage port. The reservoir collects liquid formed by condensation of the respiratory air within the filter compartment, and the drainage port allows removal of the collected liquid from the reservoir while the housing remains connected to the breathing circuit.

L'invention concerne un filtre respiratoire et un appareil de gestion de condensat destinés à être utilisés dans un circuit respiratoire pendant la respiration du patient. L'appareil comprend un boîtier ayant un orifice d'entrée d'air pour recevoir un flux d'air respiratoire, et un orifice de sortie d'air pour délivrer en sortie le flux d'air respiratoire à un ventilateur. Un compartiment de filtre est disposé dans le boîtier et comprend un élément de filtre situé sur un trajet d'écoulement de l'air respiratoire de l'orifice d'entrée d'air à l'orifice de sortie d'air. Un compartiment de collecte de condensat est disposé dans le boîtier et comprend au moins un réservoir et au moins un orifice de drainage auto-obturant. Le réservoir collecte le liquide formé par la condensation de l'air respiratoire à l'intérieur du compartiment de filtre, et l'orifice de drainage permet d'éliminer le liquide collecté du réservoir tandis que le boîtier reste relié au circuit respiratoire.
