The strength of a proppant or sand control particulate may be improved by coating the proppant to form a composite. The composite has enhanced compressive strength between about 34 to about 130 MPa and minimizes the spalling of fines at closure stresses in excess of 5,000 psi. Conductivity of the proppant pack in the fractures is further enhanced due to the increase in strength of the particles.

Selon l'invention, la résistance d'un agent de soutènement ou d'une matière particulaire de contrôle du sable peut être améliorée par enrobage de l'agent de soutènement pour former un composite. Le composite a une résistance à la compression accrue comprise entre environ 34 et environ 130 MPa et réduit au minimum l'effritement produisant des fines à des contraintes de fermeture supérieures à 5000 livres par pouce carré (psi). La conductivité du paquet d'agent de soutènement dans les fractures est encore accrue en raison de l'augmentation de résistance des particules.
