Methods and systems to decarbonize natural gas using sulfur to produce hydrogen and polymers are provided. Sulfur can be introduced in elemental form or as hydrogen sulfide, as may be desired. Decarbonization of natural gas involves introducing natural gas and H2S to a first reactor to produce first reactor products including CS2 and H2. The CS2 can subsequently be polymerized and the H2 recovered in a purified form with little or no carbon emissions.

L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes de décarbonisation du gaz naturel à l'aide de soufre pour produire de l'hydrogène et des polymères. Le soufre peut être introduit sous forme élémentaire ou en tant que sulfure d'hydrogène, comme souhaité. La décarbonisation du gaz naturel implique l'introduction de gaz naturel et de H2S dans un premier réacteur pour produire des premiers produits de réacteur comprenant CS2 et H2. Le CS2 peut être ensuite polymérisé et le H2 peut être récupéré sous une forme purifiée avec peu ou pas d'émissions de carbone.
