This medium inversion and ejecting device comprises: an ejection unit (32) which ejects a medium (71) from an ejection port (36) in a paper-ejecting direction (35); a holding portion (41) which holds and inverts the medium (71); and a drive unit (42) which moves the holding portion (41) in such a manner that the speed of movement with which the holding portion (41) moves is lower than the ejection speed with which the medium (71) is ejected from the ejection portion (36), when a first plane (62) along the portion of the medium (71) which comes into contact with the ejection port (36) and a second plane (63) along the portion of the medium (71) which is held by the holding portion (41) do not intersect on the downstream side of the ejection port (36) in the paper-ejecting direction (35).
