A method for the production of a fuel additive includes passing a hydrocarbon stream comprising crude mixed C4 hydrocarbons through a first hydrogenation unit to produce a first product stream; passing the first product stream from the first hydrogenation unit to a methyl tert-butyl ether synthesis unit forming methyl tert-butyl ether and a byproduct stream; passing the byproduct stream through a first distillation unit to separate the byproduct stream into a first 1 -butene stream, an isobutane stream, and a 2-butene and n-butane stream; forming a second product stream by passing the 2-butene and n-butane stream to a selective conversion unit; passing the second product stream into a second distillation unit to form an n-butane stream and a second 1 -butene stream; passing the second 1 -butene stream to a fuel additive production unit; and passing the first 1 -butene stream to the fuel additive production unit to form the fuel additive.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire un additif de carburant comprenant les étapes consistant à faire passer un flux d'hydrocarbure comprenant des hydrocarbures en C4 mélangés bruts à travers une première unité d'hydrogénation pour produire un premier flux de produit ; faire passer le premier flux de produit de la première unité d'hydrogénation à une unité de synthèse d'éther de méthyle tert-butyle formant de l'éther de méthyle tert-butyle et un flux de sous-produit ; faire passer le flux de sous-produits à travers une première unité de distillation pour séparer le flux de sous-produits en un premier flux de 1-butène, un flux d'isobutane, et un flux de 2-butène et de n-butane ; former un second flux de produit en faisant passer le flux de 2-butène et de n-butane à une unité de conversion sélective ; faire passer le second flux de produit dans une seconde unité de distillation pour former un flux de n-butane et un second flux de 1-butène ; faire passer le second flux de 1-butène à une unité de production d'additif de carburant ; et faire passer le premier flux de 1-butène à l'unité de production d'additif de carburant pour former l'additif de carburant.
