Computer vision systems and methods for real-time localization of a needle in an ultrasound video are provided. The method includes a step of receiving at a processor a plurality of frames from the ultrasound video. The method also includes the step of identifying by the processor one of the plurality of frames as a background image and a frame adjacent to the background image as a current image. The method further includes the step of performing by the processor a bitwise complement operation on the background image to generate a complement image. Moreover, the method includes the step of performing by the processor a pointwise logical AND operation on the complement image and the current image to identify the location of the needle.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés de vision artificielle pour la localisation en temps réel d'une aiguille dans une vidéo ultrasonore. Le procédé comprend une étape consistant à recevoir au niveau d'un processeur une pluralité de trames à partir de la vidéo ultrasonore. Le procédé comprend également l'étape d'identification, par le processeur, d'une trame parmi la pluralité de trames en tant qu'image d'arrière-plan et d'une trame adjacente à l'image d'arrière-plan en tant qu'image actuelle. Le procédé comprend en outre l'étape consistant à effectuer par le processeur une opération de complément de bit sur l'image d'arrière-plan pour générer une image de complément. De plus, le procédé comprend l'étape consistant à effectuer par le processeur une opération ET logique ponctuelle sur l'image du complément et l'image actuelle pour identifier l'emplacement de l'aiguille.
